What is FCP?
First Contentful Paint measures the time from navigation until the first text, image, SVG or non-white canvas content is rendered. The official web.dev guidance describes 1.8 seconds or less as a good experience at the 75th percentile.
Original research / Website rebuild / 2026
A transparent before-and-after record of six technical and search-readiness metrics from the Markou Design London website rebuild. The results show meaningful progress, while the methodology notes explain exactly what this dataset can—and cannot—prove.
The rebuild improved every recorded measure. Mobile performance increased from 63 to 90, while First Contentful Paint fell from 4.3 seconds to 0.9 seconds.
The largest remaining performance constraint was LCP. It improved by 5.9 seconds, from 9.1 to 3.2 seconds; however, 3.2 seconds was still above Google's published 2.5-second “good” threshold and should not be presented as finished work.
| Metric | Before | After | Change | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile performance | 63 | 90 | +27 points | Higher is better |
| First Contentful Paint | 4.3 s | 0.9 s | −3.4 s | 79.1% faster |
| Largest Contentful Paint | 9.1 s | 3.2 s | −5.9 s | 64.8% faster |
| AEO readiness | 25 | 100 | +75 points | Higher is better |
| AI-SEO / GEO | 53 | 89 | +36 points | Higher is better |
| Accessibility | 97 | 100 | +3 points | Higher is better |
This is a diagnostic case-study dataset, not a controlled industry benchmark. It records the supplied summary values from before and after one client rebuild.
The public source material did not retain raw Lighthouse exports, audit timestamps, device profiles or tool-version identifiers. Therefore, the dataset reports the values accurately but does not claim laboratory reproducibility or field-performance equivalence.

Largest Contentful Paint reports when the largest visible image, text block or video is rendered. The official web.dev guidance sets 2.5 seconds or less as the good threshold at the 75th percentile.
These are third-party diagnostic scores for answer-engine and generative-engine readiness. Unlike Core Web Vitals, they are not standardised web-platform metrics, so they should be interpreted within the scoring tool rather than compared across unrelated tools.
Primary sources define the web-performance metrics, while the live client and delivery websites establish the subject and project relationship. The downloadable files reproduce the complete published dataset.
